"Humility to be expressed with modesty"

As February is National Children's Dental Health Month, Hawai'i Dental Association was    asked by several local elementary schools for presentations on Oral Health...and our Hō’ola  Waimea Dental Team volunteered to present to the 2nd grade classes at Ele'ele School!!

Dr. Lauren and her Tooth Fairies presented to the keiki on oral health with live  demonstrations of brushing and flossing - of course, using eager volunteers from the  audience!  The Tooth Fairies were interspersed amongst the children with mouth models,
teaching them proper brushing/flossing and why we place sealants on molars.  The children were captivated and had so much fun!  The sessions culminated with fun activity sheets to  bring home, along with the famed goodie bag of toothbrushes and pastes.

Dr. Lauren and her Fairies then flew west to Ke Kula Ni'ihau Charter School where they gave a similar presentation and demonstrated proper brushing/flossing using mouth models  with student participation.  Each presentation was a bit differently adapted, as they taught Kindergartners to 12th graders.  Each student was given an oral screening in another room  with a goodie bag reward at the end.  Those who needed immediate attention were  documented and followed up later.  It was a great day to be out serving the community and  they all enjoyed the privilege!
